Auriga wins ATMIA ATMmys Award for its ATM Malware Guide

04 June 2026 / News

Auriga has received international recognition at the ATMIA ATMmys Awards for its ATM Malware Guide, a specialist resource dedicated to ATM channel security and to protecting banking self-service infrastructures from the main malware threats. The award was presented during ATMIA Europe & Emerging Markets 2026, a leading event for the ATM and banking industry, held in Madrid on 1 June.

International recognition for the ATM Malware Guide

During the event, Auriga received the award in the “Content – Whitepapers, Guides, Industry Knowledge Assets” category for its ATM Malware Guide, a comprehensive and innovative guide covering the main malware threats affecting ATMs.

The award recognises Auriga’s commitment to providing banks, financial institutions and industry stakeholders with specialist content, technology insights and in-depth resources designed to strengthen awareness of cyber risks and enhance the resilience of the financial ecosystem.

With more than 50 pages of analysis and protection strategies, the ATM Malware Guide is a valuable reference resource for the industry. It provides a clear and practical overview of the main ATM malware threats and the measures needed to prevent, detect and counter them, helping financial institutions protect their self-service infrastructure, ensure banking service continuity and proactively manage cyber risk.

Why ATM security is critical to the banking industry

ATMs continue to play a strategic role in providing access to financial services, particularly as banks and financial institutions move towards increasingly omnichannel models. Protecting ATM networks, self-service devices and connected infrastructure is therefore essential to ensuring security, operational reliability and customer trust.

Against this backdrop, malware threats targeting ATMs require a structured approach that combines technical expertise, monitoring, prevention and response strategies. Auriga’s ATM Malware Guide was created precisely to provide the industry with a clear understanding of the main threats and the actions required to strengthen the protection of the ATM channel.

Auriga at ATMIA Europe & Emerging Markets 2026

ATMIA Europe & Emerging Markets 2026 brought together leading ATM and banking industry players in Madrid as part of a roadshow format designed to bring industry content, innovation and networking opportunities closer to individual markets.

Auriga took part in the event, contributing to discussions on the issues shaping the future of cash, ATMs, banking services and ATM security, while reinforcing its role in supporting the evolution of banking infrastructure towards a more omnichannel, secure and resilient model.

ATMs, branches and digital channels moving towards an integrated model

Another key moment in Auriga’s participation was a presentation by Ángel Arenillas, Country Manager Spain and Portugal. During the session “From Branches to Access Networks: Rethinking Infrastructure”, Arenillas explored the transformation of the bank branch model in Europe, analysing the shift towards hybrid infrastructure and integrated access networks in response to the gradual reduction of physical branch networks and the growing importance of digital channels.

In this context, access to financial services is no longer tied to a specific location or a single channel. Instead, it is becoming an integrated network combining physical touchpoints, digital channels, remote assistance and intelligent service orchestration.

This approach reflects an increasingly clear reality: customers expect a unified banking experience across physical and digital channels that is continuous, consistent and preserves context throughout their journey.

The strategic role of ATMs in the evolution of banking infrastructure

For financial institutions, the challenge is to integrate every customer touchpoint into a truly omnichannel model. As part of this transformation, ATMs are taking on a strategic role as connected self-service touchpoints, capable of improving operational efficiency and meeting evolving customer expectations while maintaining high standards of security, reliability and resilience.

The Madrid event therefore provided a valuable opportunity to exchange perspectives with key industry players and move forward an important discussion: how banking infrastructure can adapt to an environment in which proximity, technology, security and trust must evolve together.
